My name is Elli Kirsikka Jauhiainen and I am a second-year student studying in the Mikkeli program.
I went to high school in Kuopio, a few hours north from here. I have actually never studied in English before, which is why this program has been super great for me! I have always liked a fast-paced life, so I have worked during summers and also alongside high school. After I graduated, I had a small breather and focused only on work. I would consider my interest to be gym, nature and design.
I really wanted to study in English, and that was the biggest reason I chose this program. I got the idea to study here from an alumna of our high school who came to tell us about this program in Mikkeli.
My study experience here has been overall amazing. The intense studying fits me perfectly, and I enjoy the three-week modules. I decided to study business years ago, so the courses are very interesting in my opinion.
I have learned several skills here, but the skill I value the most is how to work in a multicultural environment. In a multicultural environment, it is important to give space for others’ opinions and ways of working, as well as listen to their point of views without trying to stick to what you think is right.

My favourite course has been Intercultural Management by Jacek Mironski. It was indeed fascinating to get to know the etiquette and customs of other business cultures. I got to analyze case studies related to cultural differences and management and it was most interesting.
The highlight was definitely last summer. Every day we were hanging out outside swimming, eating and having the absolute best time. Even though we studied during the summer, the remote lectures felt super light when lying on the beach enjoying the sun.
Only one: you really should choose this program. Academically, this school is highly ranked and teaches you a great totality of business skills from an intercultural point of view, of course. In addition, the student culture here is something I have never seen before and would not change for anything.

Studying in the Bachelor's Program in International Business gives Nikolai Andriakov the quantitative skills needed in business life: “As a technical-oriented person, I really want to gain these skills and there are many courses that help to build a solid knowledge in quantitative disciplines.”
School of Business, Mikkeli Campus alumnus Daniel Cohen encourages current students to be confident and patient in finding their own paths: “If you feel like you don’t know what to do, don’t worry. That doesn’t mean you cannot get ahead in your career and build up work skills. Anything you do for work will help you get in the right direction.”
During her career in rhythmic gymnastics, Julia Romanyuk, a multiple Finnish champion and the School of Business Mikkeli 鶹ý alumna learnt many skills that have been valuable outside athletics as well: ‘I have applied these practical skills, such as time management and having a high drive, in my studies and personal life.’
