As part of the Regenerative Textile Garden’s first-year crop, we now have flax ready for processing. Flax is a great material for workshops, highlighting the labour involved in transforming plant to fiber and, ultimately, to garment.
Continuing our focus on skill-sharing, we are inviting experts in fiber processing to lead a series of workshops:
Leena Pesu (from https://linenstories.fi/) will guide us through the process of flax preparation and processing.
Juni Neyenhuys (https://junisun.de/about/) will demonstrate her self-built wet spinning machine, showcasing innovative biopolymer spinning methods using local materials such as seaweed.
Joseph Hallam will introduce the craft of spinning,
helping us transform our processed flax fiber into usable yarn.
After the workshops, the learnings are collected into a booklet: Sowing, Growing, Breaking, Scutching, Hackling, Spinning — A Beginner's Guide To Textile Crafts (2026) by Johanna Hehemann and Maya Kurella will be exhibited at .
