Third year BSc student in Electrical Engineering! Possibility to apply to a BIP-course “ROS in Embedded Design for Mobile Robots”

Apply to take part in a BIP-course at Wroclaw Tech, Poland, in February 2026! This hands-on program brings together students from universities across Europe to explore the design and implementation of embedded systems in the context of mobile robotics.

This BIP is designed for late Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering i.e. you need to be in your third year of studies. The program consists of two complementary parts: a virtual and an on-site component. More details on the .
The virtual component consists of a series of online lectures introducing the key topics of the course. The online lectures will take place between 26.1. and 8.2.2026 (exact schedule tba). Topics:

  • Simulation as a tool for system development - Jorge Barreiros, ISEC Coimbra
Getting Started with ROS 2 - Janusz Jakubiak, PWr Wrocław
Introduction to micro-ROS - Thomas Herpoel, HELHa Mons
Localization techniques for mobile robots - Sérgio Correia, IPP Portalegre
Programming Embedded Platforms for Robotics - Fernanda Coutinho, ISEC Coimbra

The on-site component will take place at Wrocław University of Science and Technology from 16.-20.02.2026. There, you will apply the knowledge gained during the lectures through practical workshops covering the following topics:

  • Programming hardware interfaces in embedded systems
    Practical development of ROS system
Localization and navigation of mobile robots
    Implementation of micro-ROS-based robot controller

Students will earn 3 ECTS credits upon completion. Aalto selects and nominates only students that are eligible for Erasmus+ short-term mobilities. For this course, 1-2 students can receive the short-term grant. If the credits do not fit into your degree, you are not eligible to apply. Please check that you meet the requirements for a short-term blended mobility grant. If more applicants than places, students are selected according to GPA. Students’ opportunities for language learning to expand from autumn 2026

Founded in 2025, KiePe – Network for Language Centre Pedagogy, Teaching and Research – will broaden the range of language courses available to students at universities in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The KiePe network, composed of the University of Helsinki, Aalto University, the University of the Arts Helsinki, and Hanken School of Economics, will offer their students the chance to take elective language courses at any of the network universities in the future.
Students will be able register for courses via the cross-institutional studies service (RIPA) from autumn 2026. By autumn 2028, the study paths of the network universities will be harmonised to some extent, which will make cross-institutional studies even easier.
Students wishing to take language courses outside their home university can register for language courses offered by the network universities through the cross-institutional studies service and view the course offerings on the universities’ websites. More detailed information about the course offering and registration practices will be provided in August 2026.
