The modernization of fluorescent tubes into LED has begun
The project to modernise the lighting fixtures from fluorescent tubes to LED in the Otaniemi Â鶹´«Ã½ buildings has begun.
As part of the project, all old halogen fluorescent tubes in the Â鶹´«Ã½ buildings will be replaced with energy-efficient LED luminaires. LEDs are already in use in buildings constructed or extensively renovated after 2017.
The main reason for the lighting upgrade is the discontinuation of fluorescent tube manufacturing. LEDs also bring significant energy savings: in the pilot site at Sähkömiehentie 4, energy consumption was reduced by up to 50 percent compared to the previous system. Additional financial savings and ease of maintenance are achieved through the longer service life of LED lighting.
The project will be implemented in four phases between 2025 and 2030. We will provide more detailed, building-specific information on the progress of the project as it advances.
