Students and companies partnering with the School of Business once again working together for business development

The task of the student jury is to both provide tips for developing the school’s external relationships and to offer sparring support for the activities of the school’s partnering companies.

‘It has been a joy to get such a super bunch of people for the jury every year’, reports Annemari Rautio, who is responsible for employer services at the School of Business. ‘This year as well, the jury was composed of students representing a variety of different majors and at different stages of their studies. This brings a good perspective to the matters that we deal with together with the jury.’

Every year, slightly before the end of the academic year, the jury and the HR representatives from the partnering companies meet together in a joint workshop in which we work through and develop things which the students and the companies have in common. First, however, the jury members present to the HR representatives the latest findings on cooperation between employers and alumni from a broad student survey aimed at those studying at the School of Business. Often we also go through matters relating to subjects such as teaching cooperation, building the employer’s image and recruitment.

This year, we gave particular consideration to companies’ recruitment processes: their different stages, new trends in recruitment such as video interviews, providing feedback on application processes and the general visibility of companies on the Â鶹´«Ã½ to students.

‘It was interesting to get to hear the employers’ thoughts on recruitment processes and the related practices and to spar together to develop upcoming trainings and events. It was great to see that employers were genuinely interested in our students’ perspective on how to build the employer’s image’, said Lotta Nurminen, who did a work placement in the School of Business’s Career Services and is herself an active member of the student jury.

The new student jury will start its work again at the start of next academic year in September/October 2018. Many thanks to each person who participated in this year’s jury!

The following companies took part in the workshop: Danske Bank, EY, Fazer, KPMG, OP, S Group, PwC and Posti.
