Professor Marko Hinkkanen named IEEE Fellow
Professor Marko Hinkkanen from Aalto University Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation has been named an IEEE Fellow active from January 2023.
‘This IEEE Fellow elevation shows that our research contributions are considered significant and that they have influenced the development of the field’, he says.
Professor Hinkkanen especially thanks his doctoral students and industrial collaborators.
‘Along with my doctoral students and industrial collaborators, I have developed various advanced control methods for electric motor drives and grid converters, which are essential for efficient energy use and integrating renewable energy to the grid. Throughout the years, our research findings have been effectively transferred to companies and commercial products by alumni. This research topic fascinates me because it enables application of theory to practice and integration of software with hardware.’
With over 400,000 members, IEEE is the world’s largest association for technical professionals. The IEEE Fellowship is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed 0.01% of the total voting membership.
