Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation donates more than €3 million
The Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation has granted Aalto University three million euros for its fundraising campaign and 300 000 euros for a new professorship in technology education.
Aalto University is establishing a 5-year Professor of Practice position in autumn 2018 with a view to promoting multidisciplinary research and tuition in technology education. The goal of technology education is to teach the application of technology, principles of technology, and technological environment, and to encourage young people to study sciences and technology.
‘The Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation and Aalto University have similar goals: we want to promote high-quality science, research and arts. The professorship in technology education will help us to lay a strong foundation for the future of the technical field. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the foundation,’ says Tuula Teeri, President of Aalto University.
The goal of Aalto University’s fundraising campaign is to accumulate 20 million euros by the end of June. After the donation by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation, the campaign has raised more than 19 million euros.
