High demand in society for the Business Analytics programme
The new master's programmes that the School of Business will offer from the autumn of 2022 are Business Analytics at the Department of Information and Service Management, and People Management and Organizational Development as well as Strategic Management in a Changing World at the Department of Management Studies. It will be possible to apply to these programmes from the turn of the year 2021–2022. In addition, the structure of the Global Management programme (CEMS) will undergo changes.
The Business Analytics programme will collect together all the analytics that is taught at the School of Business. The programme will prepare students for leadership positions in a digital future with a special combination skills and knowledge in management, business, and technology when they graduate. The programme offers students profound information on data-based decision-making and analytics in different areas of business.
‘The studies will also include many practical things to do. The students will develop their skills in analytics to then make use of these skills in some area of business, such as marketing, HR management, accounting, or the management of supply chains. The students will also get a basic understanding of data systems, data management, artificial intelligence technologies, and the mathematical and statistical models that analytics is based on,’ says Matti Rossi, Professor of Information Systems Science, who was part of the programme's planning group.
Business analysts and specialists in Business Intelligence
The programme is directed at those who have earned a bachelor's degree at Aalto or another high-level university with studies in, for example, statistics, mathematics, and programming. There is great demand in society for the skills and knowledge offered by the programme. Those who graduate from it will work primarily as business analysts and as specialists in Business Intelligence for retail or industrial supply chain service providers or consulting firms. Students in the programme will have very good opportunities to work already while studying, because there will be plenty of teaching online and in the evenings.
About 30 students will be taken into the programme the first time. In the future the intake is to be increased to 60 students. Already now, about 40 students specialised in analytics study at the programme for service management each year.
