Artificial intelligence tools to support information retrieval

Artificial intelligence is also going to change information retrieval and many databases are developing their own AI-based add-ons. Based on feedback from test use, Scopus AI has been acquired for use by Aalto community members, and Web of Science Research Assistant will be acquired by 2025.

Scopus AI is now available for Aalto community members

Scopus is Elsevier's abstract and citation database, which has an add-on using generative artificial intelligence called Scopus AI. It is designed specifically for the academic community. Based on reliable and peer-reviewed content, Scopus AI provides support for research or study-related information retrieval.

Scopus AI is accessible from a separate tab on the Scopus homepage and it allows you to make freely formulated search requests in different languages, including Finnish. Scopus AI retrieves answers from the references in the database and provides a short summary of the topic with source references. The answers are based on references published in 2003 or later. You can explore the topic further via an extended summary, concept map, basic publications in the research area, or the expert section on the topic. Additionally, exploration of the topic can be enhanced with pre-offered additional questions.
