Adaptive Reuse Seminar in Cambridge, UK
An international seminar in Cambridge explored the adaptive reuse of the Downing Site. Advanced Building Studio students presented design proposals alongside expert talks and a site visit.
We organised a two-day seminar on the development of Downing Site in Central Cambridge on 11-12 December, 2025. The students of Advanced Building studio presented their works regarding this former main laboratory site at the Department of Architecture by Scroope Terrace.
We are very thankful to the participants from the University of Cambridge: Sofia Nivarti, Dean Hawkes, Timothy Brittain-Catlin, and Nicholas Ray for the enthusiastic discussion. On the second day, Nick gave an insightful lecture on the history of architecture in Cambridge and we had an exciting site excursion. We are glad that the Estates unit of the Univ. of Cambridge has expressed its interest to carry on collaboration with us.
