Aalto University and KONE deepen collaboration

The focus areas of the research collaboration include wireless technologies and data models for buildings.

KONE and Aalto University have signed an agreement to deepen their collaboration and combine their academic and practical knowledge and expertise. The agreement includes collaboration in research, teaching, expertise development, Âé¶¹´«Ã½ development, and recruitment.

‘We've conducted research collaboration for a long period of time, and KONE has also been an active participant in the Aalto Design Factory. By deepening our collaboration, our researchers and students will have even more opportunities to work with new technologies and services’, says Jouko Lampinen, Dean of the Aalto University School of Science.

‘KONE wants to provide customers and the users of our equipment with the best possible customer experience. This agreement will give us an even broader scientific basis for the development of our products and services, for example from a user experience perspective. The areas of collaboration were also selected with our technology strategy in mind. Our goal is to ensure that, KONE continues to be known as the most innovative company in our industry’, says KONE's Chief Technology Officer Tomio Pihkala.

With this agreement, Aalto and KONE aim to enhance collaboration in mutual key areas. These include people flow analytics and their integration into data models for buildings. The agreement also includes new collaboration areas, such as wireless technologies and future production methods.
