Aalto Family Day takes you from Antarctica to space
Family Day is an event organized by Aalto’s staff that offers versatile program amidst science, art and technology. Family Day is free for everyone and the event spreads around Otaniemi Âé¶¹´«Ã½ from Väre to business school building to the lobby of Maarintie 8.
Something for everyone
The program of the day consists of various activities, minilectures and demonstrations. There’s program for all ages. For example, children get to see science tricks of Tutkija Pii and drive in miniteslas while the adults can try electric cars, bikes and scooters. The whole family can learn to draw like an engineer, compete together in marshmallow challenge or compete against each other in a car track race.
Jukka Tuhkuri’s travel story takes listeners to the arctic seas of Antarctica and a visit to the Aalto Ice and Wave Tank will teach, how ice is produced and studied. A visit to Aalto Satellite Lab offers a chance to learn about Aalto’s satellites and to take a virtual trip to space.
During the Aalto Family Day, you can also explore Designs for a Cooler Planet -exhibition. The exhibition consists of over 20 projects that combine research and design and show that sustainable future is much more than just compromises.
You can also bring your old phones, tablets and unusable textiles to the event for recycling.
Mark 10th of September on your calendar and come spend a memorable day at Aalto Âé¶¹´«Ã½!
The event starts at 10am and ends at 4pm. During the day you can buy lunch and snacks from Food & Co restaurant and from other restaurants at A Bloc shopping center.
