Aalto Creatives launches Art & Tech Open Call '25 development grant for creative industry projects

The development grant aims to advance the creative industries by leveraging the power of digitalisation, encouraging innovative applications that redefine the intersection of art and technology.

The Aalto Creatives Art & Tech Open Call ’25 seeks applications from artists, creatives and entrepreneurs who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what is possible with technology. The Art & Tech development grant is designed to support cutting-edge projects that harness the capabilities of digitalisation to fuel the creative industries.

The successful applications will be granted a unique access to utilize the cutting-edge facilities of Aalto Studios and Aalto MAGICS in the new Marsio building. In addition to the facility usage, development funding ranging from EUR 2000-4000 will be granted for the winning projects.

The project proposals could focus on, but are not limited to, the following topics: new methods and formats for audiovisual storytelling; technology-enhanced art, design and entertainment; augmentation of human creativity through computational methods or creation of novel interactive experiences. 

The deadline for project proposals is on Friday 22.8.25. Applicants need to be prepared to produce a prototype or a demo of their idea.

The amazing infrastructure available for the winning projects in Marsio contains: Digital Studio, Experimental Studio 1, Experimental Studio 2, Experimental Studio 3 (Immersive Audio), Visualization Studio (360-degree shared VR-environment), Video edits, Audio edits, Colour correction unit, Sound recording facilities and Marsio Cinema with Virtual Acoustics capabilities. The winning projects are also granted access to Aalto Fablab.

In addition, thousands of pieces of equipment in Aalto Studios Takeout are available for the applicants, including Aalto Magics’ Riegl Iidar scanner for room size and outdoor use, Artec Leo handheld object scanner, Xsens portable MoCap suit and Rokoko MoCap gloves, Zylia immersive audio microphones, Insta 360-degree cameras, and numerous sensors for heart rate monitoring.
