Paradox City Exhibition

Paradox City exhibition presents complementing paradoxes that will transport the visitor from the era of Otnäs manor towards the next development stages of the Â鶹´«Ã½.

The exhibition is open to public 20 November 2018 - 18 January 2019 according to Dipoli's opening hours

Instead of seeing different aspects of the Otaniemi area as contradictory to one another, their co-existence can be embraced as a unique resource for the future Â鶹´«Ã½. In Otaniemi, densification and urbanisation meet prominent architectural heritage and rich natural environments. At the same time, the exhibition examines how the built environment can foster social activities and encounters on Â鶹´«Ã½, as well as the relationship between a local Â鶹´«Ã½ community and global networks.

Glimpses to the past, present and future trends of the Â鶹´«Ã½ are on display. Alvar Aalto'sand Reima Pietilä's sketches are portrayed next to different plans for the future Â鶹´«Ã½ to spark conversation. Results from multidisciplinary student projects organized on Â鶹´«Ã½ and viewpoints of external organizations on the Â鶹´«Ã½ create a part of the exhibition. As part of Paradox City, an installation called "Home of..."  is launched, and visitors are welcome to share their thoughts on Â鶹´«Ã½ by participating in the installation.
