Master's Programme in Electronics and Nanotechnology is organized by the School of Electrical Engineering (department of Electronics and Nanoengineering).

The programme has five majors from which students choose one:

  • Microelectronic Circuit Design
  • Microwave Engineering
  • Photonics and Nanotechnology
  • Space Science and Technology
  • Wireless and RF Engineering

All the majors consist of 65 ECTS of studies. The extent of the Master of Science (Tech) degree is 120 ECTS credits.

From theory to practice: students enhance an accessible MRI scanner

Master’s students Teemu Rauha and Elias Viitanen designed new filters for an accessible magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner, aiming to reduce interference and improve image quality. The technology, developed within a research project, could one day accelerate diagnoses of conditions such as stroke.

Aalto ELEC is part of the TFK-project: ICT4AID - Information, Communication and Data Processing Technologies for Response Management in Case of Natural Disasters. The project can offer 2 students (PhD/MSc) a chance to visit one of the Indian partner universities.

Tuition fees 

Tuition fee for tuition-fee students in this programme:

  • Study right started on or before 1 August 2024: 15,000 EUR / academic year
  • Study right started on or after 1 August 2025: 17,000 EUR / academic year
