Various career paths: tax expert Saara Hietanen is building a better world

Saara Hietanen became interested in organisational activities in upper secondary school through her love for animals, but only started a career in organisations and advocacy work after working in an international auditing company. Instead of animal rights, Hietanen ended up promoting fair taxation.

Sustainable fit-for-purpose nonwovens project boosts the competitiveness and broadens the export potential of the Finnish nonwovens sector in the growing markets. Universities work together to promote the growth of wood construction

The Doctoral School of Industrial Wood Construction at Tampere University is starting collaboration with Aalto University. The goal of practical teaching and research involving industry is to combine science and business. At the Doctoral School, the partners are bringing together knowledge based on research on wood construction and educating more specialists that are needed in the field. Especially environmental reasons are in favour of the construction of wooden high-rise buildings.

Alumnus Michael Hanf: Finland provides a great place to live and work

‘Helsinki caught my attention as it was different from the typical locations my fellow students selected.’ says Michael Hanf who came to do exchange studies at the then Helsinki School of Economics in the end of 1990s. After that he has been working in Finland and Germany and currently is the co-founder of Taival Advisory, helping clients to consider sustainability and circularity in their strategic decision making.
