Jussi Ryynänen Group

Aalto University research infrastructure for ECD offers state of the art design tools for integrated circuit design and high-quality measuring tools. Latest nanoscale CMOS technologies enable seamless collaboration with industry partners in research and development of different kinds integrated circuits for data communications and sensor applications. In addition, there is a lot of in-house collaboration with different research groups inside Aalto University, e.g. in the fields of antennas, wireless sensors and wireless communication.

Key activities within the research of prof. Ryynänen include IC design to meet the requirements of modern technology, e.g. 5G radio transmitter, designed for the small fifth generation base stations. The ECD unit attracts serious amount of external funding, mainly from Academy of Finland, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation (Tekes), European Union research programs, and various industrial and corporate partners.

Special focus in the group is Advanced architectures for RF radio transceivers research produces innovative solutions to improve the communication capacity and energy efficiency of emerging radio receiver generations. Circuit solutions aim to fully exploit the benefits of modern CMOS scaling by seeking solutions based on digital-intensive and digitally assisted, nonlinearity and interference tolerant RF-circuits.
